Organization Description:
Responders Together NH is a 501c3 non-profit organization. The staff of five are 100% volunteers from law enforcement, fire/EMS, veteran family members, and a clinician. We strive to provide Peer Facilitated Wellness and Support Programs at no cost to law enforcement, fire/EMS, dispatchers, corrections, veterans, active duty, and their families to reduce risk of Post Traumatic Stress Injury, substance misuse, and suicide correlated to job related stress response.
First responders and veterans/active duty are at increased risk for Post-Traumatic Stress Injury, substance misuse, suicide, and other stress related health conditions. Our responders and military personnel have a much higher rate of suicide and an average life expectancy 10 years less than the general population.
Research supports the effects of cumulative stress response are mitigated by physical activity, mindfulness, and connection to peers who are relatable. RTNH has developed a Peer Facilitated Wellness Program with collaborating facilities to provide martial arts/Tactical Defense, Tai Chi, mindfulness, yoga, weight training, and archery available to any responder, veteran, and family members.
Responders Together NH also sponsors International Critical Incident Stress Management Peer Support training annually to develop formal Peer Support Teams north of Concord. Peer Supporters are relatable and are trained to provide support, refer to resources or a clinician if needed. Our efforts have resulted in teams forming in the Lakes Region and soon in the Lebanon area.
Areas/Communities Served:
Peer Facilitated Wellness Programs are offered in Laconia, Franklin, Bristol, and three programs are mobile. We collaborate with other organizations and multiple venues to offer availability. These programs are open to any responder or veteran who wants to join.
Grafton, Merrimack, and Belknap Counties are served by Lakes Region Peer Team. The Lakes Region Peer Team has law enforcement, fire/EMS, dispatchers and veterans from Laconia, Franklin, New Hampton, Bristol, Alexandria, Hill, Rumney, Plymouth, Ashland, Lincoln, and Littleton.
